Security and Workflow Scheduling
Definition
Without any explicit schedule, three staff members at MANIAC MINDZ once found themselves all working on the same rush order at the same time, while two other, equally due orders sat completely untouched until the afternoon. Nobody had done anything wrong individually. Nobody had simply been told what to prioritize first.
Security protects the physical premises, equipment, and stock from theft or damage. Workflow scheduling plans the day's sequence of tasks so work moves smoothly instead of everyone converging on the same job while other work waits.
Why does an unscheduled day so easily produce a bottleneck like that, even with good, hardworking staff? Because without an assigned order, everyone reasonably defaults to whatever feels most urgent in the moment, and several capable people making the same reasonable guess at once is exactly how one job gets triple-staffed while others wait. A written schedule removes the guessing.
Security is a layered defense, locks, alarms, and controlled access working together, the same physical risk logic covered in Volume 10. Workflow scheduling is the daily version of the sequencing discipline Volume 19 applies to big, one-off jobs, here applied to the ordinary rhythm of an everyday production day.

No single layer needs to be perfect. The combination is what makes a break-in or theft both harder to attempt and easier to notice.
One lock can fail silently. Several layers together rarely fail the same way at the same time.
Scheduling the Day's Workflow
Sequence by priority and deadline
Prevents everyone defaulting to whichever job feels most urgent emotionally, rather than actually is.
Avoid bottlenecks
One stage (e.g., a single cutting table) shouldn't leave every later stage waiting idle.
Match tasks to who's actually available
A schedule built around who's supposed to be there, not who's assumed to be.

Common Mistakes
A single lock, with no alarm or camera, fails silently and completely if it fails at all.
