A customer wants the same piece made years later.
The original cutter is no longer with the business.
The customer remembers the garment perfectly. The business remembers it too, but only as a photo and a story. If the original shape, measurements, and construction choices were never captured, the team must start from scratch and hope the result is close.
A pattern is a way of keeping a good decision alive. It lets the business reproduce a design without rebuilding it from memory.

Record improvements, retire old versions carefully, and protect the value that the pattern carries.
